Currencies and Minor Units
info
In this section, you’ll find an overview of minor units for each supported currency in our system.
Minor units refer to the smallest denomination of a currency, often represented in cents or similar units.
Each currency is listed with:
- Currency Code: The three-letter code identifying each currency, following the ISO 4217 standard.
- Minor Unit: The number of decimal places required for the currency, indicating how values should be formatted.
- Example Conversion: An example that shows how a typical currency amount translates into minor units for precise calculations.
- Minimum Amount: You cannot make a request for an amount less than the specified for each currency. Minimum amount is specified as both the decimal and minor units value.
e.g., To make a request for 1230 ISK, the amount in the request needs to be 123000.

warning
For ISK, the ISO 4217 standard has a different number of decimals than shown in our currency codes table.
For example, ISK has zero decimals in the ISO 4217 standard, but to submit an ISK amount to Straumur you have to use two decimals as shown in the table.
Amounts in ISK must end in 00.
