Overview
Tap to Pay lets a merchant accept contactless card payments on a standard phone — no separate card terminal. The card is read by the phone's NFC hardware through the Adyen Tap to Pay (SoftPOS) SDK, while Straumur handles session provisioning, the charge, and settlement.
Create a session
Before a device can take a payment, the Adyen SoftPOS SDK needs an active session. Your app obtains a setupToken from the SDK, your backend exchanges it here for the sdkData the SDK uses to establish that session, and your app hands sdkData back to the SDK.
Take a payment
To charge a card, call this endpoint with the amount and the device you want to charge on. Straumur pre-creates the payment (owning the amount and reference) and returns a ready-to-run Adyen SaleToPOIRequest. Your app hands that request to the SDK, which performs the contactless read.
